ON VANCOUVER ISLAND'S EAST COAST

Come explore our beautiful valley and everything it has to offer.

Explore the Comox Valley

A beautiful place to live, work and play

From a stunning coastline with expansive ocean views, to pastoral rolling farmlands and the alpine playground of Mt. Washington & hills of Cumberland, the Comox Valley is located on the Eastern coast of Vancouver Island and is considered to have that West Coast magic.

Comox is derived from an indigenous Kwakʼwala word meaning Place of Plenty, and nothing much has changed. With its temperate climate the Comox Valley is often referred to as the Recreation Capital of Canada for obvious reasons.

It’s a paradise for those looking for outdoor pursuits. Whether you’re interested in hiking in the forest, kayaking on the ocean, meandering down the many beaches and walking trails or swimming in one of the many pristine rivers, the Comox Valley has it all!

For the adventurous at heart, we have mountain bike trails on the hills of Cumberland or the Mt. Washington bike park during the summer.

In the winter, Mt Washington, Vancouver Island’s major alpine resort, is located just a half-hour from Courtenay and home to a fun mix of activities for the whole family. Ski or board, tube, and toboggan in the winter, then bike, hike, or zipline in the summers.

For those seeking water sports, the Valley has stunning ocean coastline for those who want to go paddle boarding, canoeing, and kayaking or diving.  The Comox Valley also boasts world class fishing which draws tourists from all over the world.

We have fantastic boutique shopping in our charming downtowns and a variety of spas, coffee shops, pubs and restaurants.

Our gorgeous community boasts a mild climate and is a popular destination for those wanting to retire here or raise their family in a smaller, connected environment.

The Valley area includes the communities of Merville, Black Creek, Saratoga, Royston, Fanny Bay, Union Bay, Denman & Hornby Islands and is home to over 65,000 residents.
